My name is Claire Campbell, I am the designer of Brisbane Mums Diary 2013 and newly renamed to Mums Diary 2014. I’m 37 year old mother of Maddison 12, Amity 9 and the new addition to our family is Max our dog.
I started Mums Diary after losing my Dad to cancer in December 2011. My Dad was an amazing man to boot! He lived for my brothers and myself and only wanted the best for his children. The biggest imprint my Dad left on me was his passion for his children and he was a magician for over 60 years, and was a member of the “Order of Merlin”. As children we did not think it was cool being a magician, but being cool or not he believed in it and us! To lose a parent would have to be one of the hardest feelings to explain. While you do learn to move forward, you hold the memories as close to you more than you ever would have before.
I also dedicate Mums Diary to a dear friend who lost her 4 year battle with cancer in January 2013. Karen too is an amazing lady that was full of life and had the most contagious laugh. She had a little saying which always followed that infamous giggle “dolly did it”. Great friendship and great memories. Dad and Karen are the reason I donate part proceeds of the diary sales to Cancer Council to help with their ongoing research.
I’m the proud mother of two beautiful girls. Some days I just stand there and shake my head at the beautiful creation that they are and will grow to be. I also wish I could squish them down to be babies again, and I tell them and they laugh. I tell them most days to enjoy being a kid because you are a long time an adult.
